Sam Mackey is a freelance photographer, visual artist, and writer based in New York City.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Photojournalism from St. John's University with a minor in International Studies.

She works with creative agencies including Converse All Stars and Adolescent Content.

She currently serves as an AmeriCorps Teaching Artist, integrating photography into core curriculum in NYC public schools and advocating for arts opportunities. 

Her work spans subjects of documentary, street, and concert. When photographing, she finds interest in the mundane and seeks to present the matter in a new light. She experiments with different processes and merges art forms together. Additionally, she enjoys narrowing in on the fine details of the locations she is inhabiting to establish previously unnoticed themes about the place.
